A year ago we said “I do” to each other and to our kids. This morning I played that cheesy Anniversary song by Tony Toni Tone (circa 1993) and made my hubby laugh with my goofy dance moves. He told me he hadn’t drank enough coffee yet and wasn’t ready for my shenanigans. We’re not taking a trip and we didn’t exchange gifts, but I did make him a blueberry cheesecake and he left me dark chocolate in my car this morning. This is us. Simple and silly (with some sweets). He’s my Smiley Bull and I’m his Peach. So I’m taking a small detour from my plan to post about one of our kids this week, and instead celebrate our one year anniversary.
Writing this blog the last couple of months has not only provided a creative outlet for me to tell our stories, but opened my eyes to the beauty of God, grace, and growth. This year we blended and started to build a life together – a life beyond what I had ever imagined. We carved out a little slice of heaven off Route 9. We’ve experienced growing pains – individually and as a family. We have learned to work as a team. We practice flexibility, and I find myself shouting “plot twist” regularly. We have been loved and encouraged by many. We have traveled, worked, played, and prayed. Tonight I pause with a grateful heart and praise God for the gift of marriage and motherhood.

Happy Anniversary! So happy to see how this major plot twist has brought joy to your life!
